We have spent the last week on Penrhyn making many, many and many new friends. The people of Penrhyn are amazingly friendly and hospitable. We have spent much of our time making friends with the locals, especially the children, helping out where we could, joining in on all the activities on the island, witnessed enchanting singing in church and we have seen our first Manta ray at 20 meters deep while dolphins were playing above us. On the 31st of October Arent turned 40-ish. That means birthday songs, a homemade cake, best wishes and, if at all possible, a huge party. As he (and we) don’t know that many people in this part of the world yet, we decided to take him to the party of the year on Tahaa: Halloween at the Taravana Yacht Club.

Happy news from back home!
Two new additions to our family arrived last week. On September 1st Louise Catherina Klinker was born, daughter of Boukje’s brother Pieter and his wife Sylvia. And on September 3rd Catootje Brink arrived, daughter of Rolf’s brother Jacco and his wife Carien. Both little girls and their parents are doing well, and we are looking forward to seeing and hearing them on skype soon…

As is the tradition with Helena, we have again accidentally ended up somewhere we didn’t plan to be And again it’s amazing and we’re having a great time with our new pearl farming family on a beautiful part of this atoll. Stuck on St Kitts

Finally an update from Helena in the Carib… Since the last update we have had many adventures at the grenadines, St Vincent where we celebrated Baziel’s birthday with the crew of the Black Swan, St Lucia where we were hanging out with Melanie and Roderick, Martinique and Antigua. Longer stories will follow soon.
As many of you may already know, Baziel is back home and currently I’m sailing around with several different people. I have met up at St Martin with Arent Brink, my cousin and I have also met Marie Lafrance who is currently still onboard Helena. Arent and Marie were supposed to come along for an overnight trip to Guadeloupe, but on the way the transmission shaft broke off, so we got stuck on St Kitts waiting for new parts. Melanie Brock & Roderic Crawford, St Lucia

We met Melanie through the Black Swan on St Vincent during Baziel’s birthday party. Melanie and het partner Roderic, who is the manager of the Almond resort on St Lucia, have hosted us in their resort while they were getting diving lessons from Rolf. After that they enjoyed a cruise with us to Martinique where they both got certified as open water divers!
